Yocto for Ka-Ro TX8M
We have put together an initial test environment for Yocto on a Ka-Ro Electronics TX8M-1610. It enables us to efficiently create application-specific BSPs on i.MX8 platforms. An initial image for test purposes comes with a Chromium browser in kiosk mode:
The current image still comes with limited multimedia capabilities, as we want to do without proprietary drivers for the time being. The browser is easy to use and our video is also played smoothly in the background. And the best thing is: The image consists of 100% open source components!
Installation is super fast with the help of UUU via USB. The whole thing is based on our Yocto Layer meta-karo-kc available at Github. We are also happy to provide you with a ready-to-use installer in binary form – just contact us!
